Don't mix it up with the ESTAM schools in Côte d'Ivoire (Abidjan-Cocody, Bouaké and Agboville). They share the name but are listed as separate establishments in Côte d'Ivoire. This page is about ESTAM in Cotonou.

Programmes can change from year to year, and we could not confirm the language of teaching. Ask ESTAM for the current list for your level, and check that the exact programme you want is open this year and taught in a language you can study in.

Best fit: students who want management, finance, IT or networks, and working students who need evening classes.

A Benin degree is only as strong as the approval behind the exact programme you take. On the directory profile we read, all six Licence programmes are listed as "régime d'ouverture" (opening authorisation). That directory uses three labels: CAMES-recognised, state-approved ("agréé par l'État"), and "régime d'ouverture". None of ESTAM's listed programmes carries one of the first two. The Ministry of Higher Education's own 2025–2026 Licence guide also lists ESTAM's programmes in its table of schools and programmes "en régime ouverture".

ESTAM is not on Beninfo247's top 10 private universities in Cotonou, and we have not verified it ourselves. Before you pay, ask ESTAM in writing for:

• The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research document that covers your exact programme and campus

• Who awards the final certificate

• The campus where you will study (Cotonou or Sèmè)

On 3 January 2024, Nigeria's Federal Ministry of Education suspended the accreditation of degree certificates from universities in Benin Republic and Togo, after an investigation into certificate racketeering. You can read the report and the list of affected universities at TheNigeriaLawyer. "ESTAM University Seme Campus" is on that list.

• It is temporary. The resolution process is ongoing. Beninfo247 understands that the government has agreed to resolve it and that the remaining step is the Ministry of Education's public statement allowing graduates to proceed. On 11 March 2026, a House of Representatives committee recommended that the blanket invalidation be rescinded and replaced with case-by-case verification (report).

• It only affects NYSC. Until it is resolved, graduates of Benin and Togo universities cannot be mobilised for NYSC. After it is resolved, they can continue.

• It is a Nigerian decision. The suspension is a Nigerian decision about certificate evaluation. It is not a Benin decision.

If you plan to serve NYSC, do not assume it will apply to you automatically once the suspension ends. Nigeria's committee recommended case-by-case verification, so your programme's approval documents will matter. Where is ESTAM University located? Its directory profile gives the Segbeya campus in Cotonou. A Sèmè campus is named on Nigeria's January 2024 list. Confirm with the school which campus runs your programme.

Is ESTAM University accredited? On the directory profile we read, its Licence programmes are listed under "régime d'ouverture" (opening authorisation), not as state-approved or CAMES-recognised. Ask ESTAM for the Ministry document for your exact programme before you pay.

Can I serve NYSC after ESTAM? Not at the moment. Nigeria's NYSC mobilisation of Benin and Togo graduates is suspended, and ESTAM University Seme Campus is on the affected list.
