How it works

1 Search the place.
Type the name of the hotel, school, pharmacy or office. Or open a category: hotels, restaurants, hospitals, universities.
2 Read the route from a landmark.
Every place has its road route from up to four well-known landmarks, written out: “From Place de l'Étoile Rouge, about 1.6 km by road…” That is how people in Cotonou give directions, and now you can do the same.
3 Drive it in 3D before you go.
Open the same place in the 3D city and see the junctions and the last turn before you leave home. Then share the route on WhatsApp with your driver.

Why it's hard to find an address in Cotonou

Ask for directions in Cotonou and you will rarely hear a street name. Many streets carry only a number on the map, like “Rue 12.164”. The last few hundred metres to a door are often small streets with no name at all. So people don't give addresses. They give landmarks: “go past Étoile Rouge, take the road to the airport, second turning after the filling station.”

That works when you know the landmarks. When you have just arrived from Lagos or Abuja, you don't. You don't know which roundabout is Étoile Rouge, or which side of the lagoon Akpakpa is on. The zem driver is waiting and “I'm near the church” helps nobody.

Is Ceety Boy free?

Yes. The website and the 3D app are free for everyone, and putting your business on the map is free too. Only the Showcase and Billboard plans for businesses are paid, and they open in December.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. ceetyboy.com opens in any phone browser. The 3D app is a tester build and a heavy download on phones, so open it on Wi-Fi.

Can I use it while driving?

Yes, the same way drivers use Google Maps. Open the place, read the route from the nearest landmark, preview it in 3D, then follow it on the way. You can also send the route on WhatsApp to the person driving.

How are places checked?

Every business is confirmed by two independent sources or by its owner. A page goes live only when the place has real coordinates, at least one road route from a public landmark and at least four checked facts. Every page shows the date it was checked.

How do I find the pharmacy on duty tonight?

Open Ceety Boy's pharmacy page, check tonight's rota from the National Order of Pharmacists of Benin (ONPB) through our link, then tap the pharmacy to get the road route from a landmark you know.

How do I add my business?
